Antonio Conte Reveals What He Disliked About Victor Moses’ Game

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has confessed that he under-rated Victor Moses’ defensive abilities when he arrived at the Stamford Bridge last summer.
The Nigerian star quickly rose to become one of the key figures at the Stamford Bridge under Conte, having spent most of his time loan deals with Liverpool and West Ham and could not nail a place in the Chelsea side.
Victor Moses has shocked everyone with his brilliant performances for the Blues this term, churning out deadly moves on the attack while remaining solid in defence as he is being deployed on the right wing.
The Italian boss also admitted to have thought he could not do much being in the defence, confessing he has been impressed with his displays so far this season.
Antonio Conte said : ‘If you asked me before the change if I imagined him in this new position, I would say not because we started to try to play with the 4-2-4 and I always saw him as a winger, very good one-v-one but a bit poor defensively,
‘When I decided to change the system, I wanted to try him in this role, to work with him in a different situation, and he showed me great commitment to understand and to study the new role, above all in defensive situations. Now we have a complete player, offensively and defensively.’
‘I realised quickly that Victor could stay with us. I spoke with him during pre-season, when we stayed in America, and told him he will stay with us. I’m happy to have this type of player. I knew him before, but to see him in person is very important to judge a player. He deserved to stay with us this season but also now he is deserving to play.
Chelsea are comfortably sitting atop of the Premier League table with 63 points and will hope to extend their lead when face West Ham on Monday night.
